Platte Valley Fire Protection District Approves Plans
for Wildland Fire Truck, Built by SVI Trucks

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Aug. 15, 2018 — The Platte Valley Fire Protection District in Kersey, Colo., has approved plans to purchase a new wildland fire truck from SVI Trucks, one of the nation’s top fire apparatus manufacturers. The recently announced Type 6 truck will be the first SVI apparatus to join PVFD’s fleet.

PVFD’s new apparatus features a custom body, built on a Ford F550 XL four-door chassis with a super single tire, wheel and lift package. The overall length of the Type 6 will be 24’ 4.5” with a height of 8’ 2”. The custom fire truck will feature compartments, including a front-body transverse slide, to store equipment and personal gear for a two-week wildland roll.

The new wildland fire truck will also feature front bumper sprays, a front-mounted whip line and OnScene Solutions’ ground lighting and Access LED compartment lighting. The truck will also house a 300-gal. water skid pump.

“We’re excited to work with PVFD on this vehicle. This will be their first custom fire truck from SVI Trucks, and we couldn’t be more honored they chose us to build their new Type 6. We look forward to delivering a great apparatus,” said Jason Kline, SVI Trucks’ Colorado and Wyoming Sales Manager.

Previously, SVI Trucks refurbished two PVFD apparatus, which required body transfers to a new chassis, additional body modifications and a water pump rebuild.
